A chiller is a machine that removes heat from a liquid via a vapor-compression or absorption refrigeration cycle. This liquid can then be circulated through a heat exchanger to cool equipment, or another process stream (such as air or process water). We service the four types of chillers including: Air Cooled, Water Cooled, Centrifugal and Screw Chiller.

A boiler is a closed vessel in which water or other fluid is heated. The fluid does not necessarily boil. The heated or vaporized fluid exits the boiler for use in various processes or heating applications, including water heating, central heating, boiler-based power generation, cooking, and sanitation.

Compressors & Pumps

The system refrigerant starts its cycle in a gaseous state. The compressor pumps the refrigerant gas up to a high pressure and temperature. From there it enters a heat exchanger (sometimes called a condensing coil or condenser) where it loses energy (heat) to the outside, cools, and condenses into its liquid phase.

HVAC UV Lights

When installed in your HVAC system, UV lights can keep surfaces and indoor air clean and disinfected.  Installing an UV light in an indoor air handler can kill a large percentage of microbes as they pass through the system, which has been used for years for allergy sufferers.  UV Lights are a chemical-free way to kill and sterilize mold, bacteria and other organic microbes that pass through your HVAC unit.  The UV Lights effectively scramble their DNA, so these organisms are unable to function normally at a cellular level, thus neutralizing them. Your CPS technician can install a Biocide Chamber UV Lamp in your air conditioning unit, which works as a sanitation device, nearly eliminating bacteria and mold around your air conditioning coil before the air can be recirculated in your business.

Air Scrubbers:

An Air Scrubber, which has been used for decades, is an air-cleaning device that attaches directly to the ductwork of your HVAC system. It uses a search-and-retrieve method to eliminate contaminants in indoor air including air pollution, VOCs, surface contaminants, pet dander, odors and dust.  As the air flows through your ductwork system, the air scrubber continuously produces negative air ions that are on a mission to search and bring back pollutants, bacteria and viruses in your air that are too small to be captured by your normal air filter.

Roof-Top Units / Packaged Heating & Air Units

An air handler designed for outdoor use, typically on roofs, is known as a rooftop unit (RTU). Package and Heating Air Units can be roof mounted, ground mounted or suspended.  They can be a constant volume or variable air volume. They provide a heating and cooling solution in one unit.

Water Source / GeoThermal Units

A geothermal heat pump or ground source heat pump (GSHP) is a central heating and/or cooling system that transfers heat to or from the ground. It uses the earth as a heat source (in the winter) or a heat sink (in the summer). Ground source heat pumps harvest heat absorbed at the Earth’s surface from solar energy.  Water Source Heat Pumps are typically used in a boiler/cooling tower application.

Variable air volume (VAV) is a type of heating, ventilating, and/or air-conditioning (HVAC) system. Unlike constant air volume (CAV) systems, which supply a constant airflow at a variable temperature, VAV systems vary the airflow at a constant temperature.  Variable air volume (VAV) systems enable energy-efficient HVAC system distribution by optimizing the amount and temperature of distributed air.  VAV systems supply air at a variable temperature and airflow rate from an air handling unit (AHU). Because VAV systems can meet varying heating and cooling needs of different building zones, these systems are found in many commercial buildings. Unlike most other air distribution systems, VAV systems use flow control to efficiently condition each building zone while maintaining required minimum flow rates as well as regulate negative and positive air pressure.

Positive pressure rooms maintain a higher pressure inside the treated area than that of the surrounding environment. This means air can leave the room without circulating back in. In this way, any airborne particle that originates in the room will be filtered out. In contrast, a negative pressure room uses lower air pressure to allow outside air into the segregated environment. This traps and keeps potentially harmful particles within the negative pressure room by preventing internal air from leaving the space.

Cooling Towers

A cooling tower is a heat rejection device, which extracts waste heat to the atmosphere though the cooling of a water stream to a lower temperature. Common applications for cooling towers are providing cooled water for air-conditioning, manufacturing and electric power generation.

Variant Refrigerant Flow (VRF or VRV)

Variable refrigerant flow (VRF), also known as variable refrigerant volume (VRV), is an HVAC technology invented in 1982. Like ductless minisplits VRFs use refrigerant as the cooling and heating medium.  This refrigerant is conditioned by a single outdoor condensing unit, and is circulated within the building to multiple fan-coil units (FCUs).

HVAC/R Controls

HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) equipment needs a control system to regulate the operation of a heating and/or air conditioning system. Usually a sensing device is used to compare the actual state (e.g. temperature/humidity/water flow) with a target state.

De-Humidification Units
